Translation and Global Communication

Editors-in-Chief: Prof. Dr. Yun Wu and Prof. Dr. Riccardo Moratto, Tongji University, China

Translation and Global Communication invites submissions

As global interconnection, digital media convergence, and technological transformation continue to reshape how meanings move across languages, cultures, and platforms, translation has become ever more central to the dynamics of global communication. No longer confined to linguistic transfer alone, translation now mediates international exchange, cross-cultural understanding, public discourse, media circulation, and technology-enabled interaction in increasingly complex ways.

Translation and Global Communication is an international peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing scholarship at the intersection of translation studies and communication studies. It is published by Peter Lang and is freely accessible on both the Peter Lang platform and IngentaConnect. The journal provides a forum for cutting-edge research that examines translation as a communicative practice, a mediating process, and a constitutive force in the production, circulation, and reception of meaning across linguistic, cultural, medial, and geopolitical boundaries. Drawing on translation studies, communication studies, and related fields, the journal seeks to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and to advance translation and global communication as a distinct and vital field of inquiry.

We welcome original contributions that explore, but are not limited to, the following topics:

l   theory and methodology in translation and global communication

l   interdisciplinary approaches to translation and communication

l   translation in cross-cultural and intercultural communication

l   multilingualism and global communicative practices

l   translation in digital, platformised, and AI-enabled environments

l   multimodal translation and media convergence

l   translation in journalism, entertainment, social media, and user-generated content

l   translation, ethics, and power in global communication

l   translation in business, healthcare, diplomacy, and public communication

l   translation and communication involving minority, indigenous, or underrepresented languages and communities

l   translation’s role in transnational media flows, narrative framing, and discourse circulation

The journal is particularly interested in theoretically informed and empirically grounded work that investigates how translation shapes communicative processes in the digital age. We also encourage submissions that engage emerging questions surrounding artificial intelligence, real-time translation technologies, multimodal communication, and the transformation of global discourse.

Types of submissions

In addition to regular research articles, the journal seeks to cultivate an open forum for critical reflections on translation in professional and public communication contexts, including journalism, reporting, new media, video games, advertising, public relations, and cultural exchange.
